Dysfunctional Trailer!

Filed under: Acting Journey — Don @ 8:08 pm

Hey Folks!

Here is a trailer for the movie ‘Dysfunctional Bookclub‘ that I acted in this summer. I have posted about this project earlier here and here.
The first two seconds of the movie has some corruption but after that it is fine.

Chatham gets Distributor!

Filed under: Acting Journey — Don @ 1:28 am

Hey, exciting news. The movie ‘Chatham’ has been picked up by a distributor — by Fox — as in 20th Century Fox. That means I will be seen in theaters all over the country. I have a very small role, about 3 lines, but that is pretty damn cool. I described the movie in detail here, here, here , here, here and here.

The movie has been renamed to “The Golden Boys” for foreign distribution, and that may be the name it comes out as in the US also. It looks like it should be coming to theaters in the spring.

At Liberty!

Filed under: Acting Journey — Don @ 1:54 am

Well us actor folks have a term called “At Liberty”. You don’t want to be at Liberty. The term means you have finished one gig and don’t have another one lined up. It is a shitty feeling because you don’t know how long it will be until you get in front of the camera again. It always feels better wrapping up a gig when you know exactly what the next one is. It gives you that warm feeling of security and safety. I think its been over two years since I last had the unhappy feeling of being at liberty.

That said. I will say there is a positive side to being at liberty as well. That is surprise. In a way it is kind of exciting wondering what the next one might be like. Sort of sparks the imagination. Will it be small role in a big movie? Or maybe a big role in a small movie? A TV Pilot? Theater? Who knows!

That Said. It still sucks being at liberty.

ManchVegas Unveiled!

Filed under: Acting Journey — Don @ 6:37 pm

Bell from ManchVegasWell we have completed 95% of principal photography on the project that must not be named. However, because most of it is shot, we have now been allowed by the producers to talk about the project a little bit more. The name of the project is ManchVegas. The name is an interesting one and the best way to explain it is to send you to the article on wikipedia here.

My character is nicknamed Bell and his full name is Guiseppi Luigi Tony O’brien Masone Bellurado.

I play the wacky over-the-top comic character that most sitcoms typically have in their roster. Like Woody in Cheers, or Kramer in Seinfeld, etc.. My character is a dishwasher at the Firehouse Pub & Grille and he is a huge pain in the ass for the pubs owner who is very well played by John Fiore.

After the show has been completed, and the sound effects, and music have been added, the producers will start shopping it around to TV studios to see if it will sell. If it does, I am set for like the next five years. The tricky thing is that sitcoms are one of the hardest things to sell in this industry so we shall see what happens. But, no matter what this has been an excellent learning tool for me. The two years I spent in rehearsals doing everything from scene study, to character building, to improv has made me a much better actor.
