On the morning of the ‘Chatham‘ shoot back in March I was very pleased when I received the call sheet (see below) for the day. I was already excited (and very nervous) about acting with a name actor like David Carradine. But seeing my name printed in the cast section along with those other names like David’s, Rip’s and Bruce Dern’s was just too damn cool. I saved the call sheet as a memento of the day and I finally got around to scanning it in so I could show it here. A call sheet is given to all the actors and crew first thing in the morning so everyone will know what is going to be filmed during the day. It also has the sides (pages of script) stapled to the back for any dialog that might be filming that day in case any of the actors want to review it. It is hard to describe why things likes this are so cool, and fascinating to me. I guess sometimes when you embark on a crazy adventure like mine it really helps to see things like this. These real world objects help crystallize the situation and allow me to process that this dream is really starting to happen! That, yes, I am an actor! Its not just me telling myself that I am an actor anymore. These mementos are significant evidence in the physical world to prove it, to drive it home. Yippee!
‘Tis all for now!
So this new movie ‘Chatham’ that I was in with David Carradine has resulted in a couple new ‘firsts’ for me. What I mean by a ‘first’ is the first time I experience a certain type of scene or activity on my acting journey. Like the first time I appeared in a movie poster, or the first time I had to drive a vehicle and act at the same time. I always enjoy when a ‘first’ happens because it just seems like something to remember and also it feels like I am checking of a list of things that actors do. Here are the new ‘firsts’.
This was the first time I was filmed on 35mm film. Up to now I have been captured on all kinds of video formats including high end HD video cameras. I have also been filmed on 8mm and 16mm film cameras. 35mm is super expensive and is only typically used by big projects like this one.

This was my first time acting with a big name actor like David Carradine. I have been a background extra and featured extra in some big movies with big actors, but this was the first time I acted in a speaking role with one.
Here is a list of the prior ‘firsts’ I have talked about so far:
My first death scene happened in July 2005
My first acting while driving scene in March 2006
My first time being painted in movie poster in July 2006
My first time being interviewed as an actor for tv in September 2006
My first time being part of a dvd commentary track in October 2006
My first time one of my characters had his own theme music in October 2006
I am sure there are others that occurred that I did not blog about, but this was a fun list, and funner to have happened.
‘Tis all for now!
