Ok, so this is another first for me. I appear in a fully painted movie poster. This actually happened quite a while ago, but I did not have a chance to scan in the image till now. This beautiful poster was painted for the Swink movie premier that took place back in April 2006 at the Kendall Square Cinemas in Cambridge, MA. I had a pretty small role in the movie only appearing in an about 5 scenes, but my character was also mentioned by other characters in 3 or 4 other scenes so I had a decent presence in the film. I played the creepy lackey of the mob underboss who was trying to take control of the mob, while the big boss was away on vacation. You can see me placed behind the underboss, my boss, just below the handle of the gun. You can click the poster to see a bigger image. I must say that it feels pretty cool knowing that an artist has rendered your image in paint for a movie poster. Another cool thing is that I signed a bunch of these posters at the premier, a new and fun experience.

I just heard from director Chris Russell that “Swink” has made its first festival! It is the Action on Film Festival in Long Beach, CA, and it takes place July 28th to July 30th. Not only that, but it has been nominated for “Best Comedy” and “Best Produced Screenplay” out of nearly 200 films!
Also just a quick note to let you know that I now have email updates set up for this blog. On the sidebar you should see a place to subscribe. If you want to be alerted when I update this blog just enter your email address and click subscribe.

Last summer I had a chance to do some acting in front of a green screen. This is where you are standing in a bare room with a big bright green wall behind you. There is nothing in the room that is actually seen on the final movie. The director tells you what you are supposed to be reacting to since there is nothing in the room. For example I had to jump out of the way from a falling pot of gold. It was a lot of fun. I just recently got my copy of the movie from the director and I put my scene up on my resume website. You can check it by clicking here or clicking the image. It is a 30 second mock commercial. I also added four other clips to my resume website, so if you like check them out by clicking the camera (
) icon when you see it. I have finally figured out how to turn movie files into flash files which are much more responsive on websites.

I am very pumped I just received my SAG card in the mail. I have been a member for a few weeks, but to get the card in my greedy little hands is so much cooler. This is the 2nd of my milestones that I had set for the year of 2006. I still have some work ahead of me to meet all my goals this year. I think it is very important to set goals at the beggining of every year in order to give you some kind of measure of how you are progressing on your journey.
The status of my film gigs present and future.
Underground (75% Shot, Filming resuming late July 2006) – Underground is a martial arts action movie about a young man whose life becomes very challenging after a fire kills his parents. He has to take care of his siblings and in an attempt to get some money he enters himself into an illegal fight ring. I play the comic relief character of an inept cop who goes undercover as a gangsta rapper to take down the ring. After a few false starts and misunderstandings I end up joining forces with the young man in an attempt to take down the leader of the ring. We start filming again at the end of July and I have heard that I am in another fight scene, should be cool.
Out of Alignment (99% Shot) - Full Length film about a pilot who gets grounded. I play a comic relief character. I play the small town cop with a bad attitude who harasses and tries to arrest the main protagonist throughout the movie. This movie is almost entirely completed except for a few minor shots. Just some shots of me and the other cop pulling out to follow the main character after he drives by us; just one line of dialog. This will be another acting while driving scene.
A Means to an End (Shoot Delayed Indefinitely) - Full Length crime drama about a streetwalker whose difficult life becomes perilous when she witnesses a brutal murder. I play a not so honest Captain of the local police force. The script is very good, and I am very excited to be involved. However, it looks like this one has been having trouble on the fund raising side. Not sure if this film will get shot or not.
Elevator Chasers (Shoot Delayed Indefinitely) – Full Length comedy about the wry, charismatic career criminal, Johnny Castalanno, who decides to go legit by rolling with a crew of self-titled “elevator chasers” and sue the city for millions by headlining the most flawless elevator scheme in lawsuit history. I have a small role in this film but it is the first speaking role I have had in a film with a budget over $100k which completes one of my 2006 milestones. Unfortunately the film makers and the people funding the project had disagreements on how the film should be made and the film makers pulled out of the project to find new investors. Not sure if this film will get shot or not.
Undisclosed Project (August - September 2006) - Lastly, I have another project I was cast in that will be filming soon. I signed an NDA so I can’t talk about it yet, but it should be a really great opportunity for me. I will post more on this one when I am allowed too.

The book of the month for July 2006 is Sidney Lumet’s Making Movies”. Sidney Lumet is the director of such great classics like “Dog Day Afternoon”, “12 Angry Men”, “Network”, and tons more. His book gives an awesome insight in the art of making movies, and he tells a good story. He tells about what goes into every aspect of movie making and I love his memories of dealing with top notch actors and what they were like on the set. I highly recommend this book for any actor or film maker.
