Exciting News!

Filed under: Acting Journey — Don @ 11:39 am

The Dunwich HorrorI am very happy to report that my good friend Director Richard Griffin has decided to do his next horror film as a SAG union film. I have done some work with Richard in the past, but when I became union I missed out on his latest horror film “Splatter Disco” because all his movies have been non-union. The reason I was able to be in some of his previous movies before “Splatter Disco” was that with “Seepage!” I was not union yet, and with “Pretty Dead Things” I was cast in the movie before I joined the union, and the union has a clause that allows you to finish up any non-union stuff you were working on when you joined the union. Of course, after that it is no more union movies ever again; thus I was disappointed to have missed out on “Splatter Disco”.

Anyway, when Richard was hired to directed Jennifer Scharf’s “Dysfunctional Bookclub“, he was able to see first hand what it takes to make a union movie, and decided that it was not to much of a pain in the ass to do, and his next movie “The Dunwich Horror” will be done as a SAG Ultra Low, and thusly he cast me in the movie! Yipee! This is a double bonus because I am a huge fan of the works of H.P. Lovecraft, and this movie is a modern adaptation of his short story of the same name. Anyway, I am very happy to say the least!

‘Tis all for now!

  1. Hi Donald. I am a new subscriber and I just wanted to say congrats man!

As a wannabe “do something-anything! in film” guy, I love the whole process of movie making.

Anyway, I’ll be looking forward to hearing how it goes. And congrats again!

  4. […] One Door Closes Well, I found out some disappointing news earlier this week. In an earlier post (here) I had talked about how “The Dunwich Horror” was going to be done as a SAG film which would have meant that I could appear in it. But unfortunately I got a call yesterday from the director saying that after trying to work out the problems with the union contracts they just could not make it work. So sadly, this film will be non-union and thusly I can not appear in it. I love working with Richard Griffin and I think he is a very talented director I so am sad to miss out on yet another of his movies. Also I am sad because I am a big H.P. Lovecraft fanboy and this film is based on one of his books. It is a little goal of mine to be involved with as many Lovecraft inspired movies as possible. Oh well, I am sure someday Richard and I will work together again. Soon I hope. […]
