Greatest Honor!

Filed under: Acting Journey — Don @ 3:34 pm

I was really honored when my nephew wrote about me for a class assignment of his. He had to write a paper called “My Inspiration” and my nephew picked me to write about. I can not think of a cooler, nicer thing than that. Here is the paper he wrote.

My Inspiration

My uncle, Don Foley, is an actor and a guitar player. This is a story about a memorable time I had with him. It occurred when I was doing a play, Alice in Wonderland, in my 6th grade year in Elementary II.

I remember going home one day and just feeling like I had done horrible and I was going to ask if I could have a different part in the play. I remember him coming down to my house and talking to me about acting. He told me about what it felt like to be on stage and to be applauded for. At that point, I still didn’t want to play the part. I then worked for an hour or two on memorizing lines.

I remember weeks later not wanting to do the play, and waiting behind the large red curtain squished up next to my friend silently. I remember stepping onto the stage and seeing him looking straight at me with a slight grin creeping across his face. As I looked out at the rest of the faces, I felt adrenaline rushing though me. I stepped up feeling great and I stepped out and just let my lines flow. I remember storming off the stage (acting) and hearing the applause behind me and feeling wonderful. Ever since that play, I have loved acting and will hopefully start acting more often with the help of my uncle.

My nephew really rocked during that play and I am hoping he keeps it up. He is one of those lucky people who quickly gets good at anything he puts his attention on. A very cool vision of mine is to have him act in a movie with me some day.

‘Tis all for now!

  2. What a wonderful story, Don! You both seem so proud of one another - and you should be!
